Tails of Iron Review - Rat on the action of the frog

I admit, I m one of those weird people who really like rats. In fact, I do not think there was a time during the past two decades I have not had at least two. They are intelligent creatures, adorable, affectionate and fascinating. They can be altruistic, they love brutality, learn tricks and even have a form of laughter, but unfortunately, they are too short. Now I ve never been to dress my rats armor or combat equipment, but thanks to Tails of Iron, I will not have to do. Also, my favorite Warhammer faction is, you guessed it, the Skaven.

I played (once again) 9 Souls-Like games you've never heard of Tails of Iron is an RPG very similar 2D action genre Soulslike. You play as a young prince named Redgi rats who must save the kingdom after his father, King Rattus, was killed by the evil Frogspawn, which emerged after a long interruption to wreak havoc among the peace-loving rats. It is a strange vision of biology, of course, because I do not think the rats and frogs have a naturally antagonistic relationship. We ll let him pass. Frogs usually do not have a mouth full of fangs.

In any case, your task is essentially to complete a series of missions and side quests consisting mainly save your fellow rats and / or to rid the kingdom of frogs while learning to be a chef worthy of the legacy of your father. If you ve played an inspired game Dark Souls, you can probably guess many mechanisms Tails of Iron. You have a large arsenal of weapons potential, you have a shield, you have the healing juices and places to rest and save your progress. As Dark Souls, your space has an impact on your reels and your dodging, and weapons such as swords in both hands are slower but more powerful, but unlike most ARPG, you do not need to keep an eye on an endurance bar. Enemies usefully attacks collide with colorful sparks, allowing you to plan your defense and block, or parry roll. It takes some getting used to, but this system for clues greatly helps to make the rather difficult fight less frustrating than it could be otherwise. Given the nature of the 2D game, the battle has a weight and a surprising impact and is very satisfying. Some boss battles are a bit boring, mainly because of the cramped arenas in which they are held. It is not only the Frogspawn Redgi that fight, but a large collection of their allies flying and crawling insects.

Tails of Iron offers pleasant and engaging combat, crafting systems, recipes and cooking and many other extra activities to earn gold, armor and weapons, but the presentation of the game is just as distinctive and exceptional. His artistic style is like a medieval children s book that comes to life, each frame is filled with wit and clever touches like the bubbles that use images to convey their intention instead of language. Redgi and his tribe of rodents warmth and character, and Frogspawn are menacing and monstrous, if only vaguely like frogs. Halfway through the game, you learn and experience a different culture and much less pleasant, the moles and their underground machinery. Whether or not a pointed comment on the Industrial Revolution, the cultures of moles and rats are managed with an imagination that is balanced with the fight, so Tails of Iron resembles a true story and not just an excuse to further imitate once the mechanics of Dark Souls. .

Although the characters themselves are not interpreted by voices, the story is sung by Doug Cockle, gravel voice actor stentorien behind The Witcher 3. The story reads like a sophisticated fairy tale, and it is highlighted by a medieval fake partition that also uses intelligently squeaks and small patterns on the recorder as a voice.

Thanks to his enchanting art, his well-written story, his heroic rodents and his satisfactory fights, Tails of Iron stands out from the seemingly endless wave of ARPG Soulslike. It modifies the fighting formula just enough to make it interesting and associates with characters full of warmth and spirit, combating competent but quite equal forces. All tasks and missions are not as interesting and certain tail movement mechanisms seem slightly insensitive, but they are small strokes against a game centered on the rats also very nice, and we do not have enough.
