Elden Ring: 4 reasons why a release will become less likely in January

Elden Ring is a future action parlor game established by FromSoftware and also released by Bandai Namco Enjoyment. The game is a collaborative initiative in between video game supervisor Hidetaka Miyazaki as well as dream writer George R. R. Martin. It is scheduled to be launched for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Collection X/S on January 21, 2022.

January 21, 2022, fans of developers from software and their games are likely to have already marked red in the calendar. But especially after a year, in which almost all major releases often moved Corona-conditioned, the guess is naturally suggested that Elden Ring is rising the same destiny.

And without now the devil to paint the wall or to rob you the anticipation of the beginning of the year, there is still more signs that indeed indicate a possible shift.

Reason 1: The missing network test

Exempted Sekiro, fans could play current fromSoft games in advance in a network test over several days. In the last Soul Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne and the Dark Souls Remaster.

As Souls expert Mordecai has now listed, these server tests usually found five months before release. Currently we are almost four months before release.

Especially with such an ambitious project like Elden Ring, such a network test is likely. So far, however, there is no info about whether he actually takes place.

Bloodborne vs. Dark Souls 3 Reason 2: Pre-orders

Another point of the suspicious makes, is the pre-order phase. There is still no information about the type and number of Collector's Editions. Although you can order the action role-playing game in known dealers, which are included, but still stand out.

It is cleared that possible editions within the Tokyo Game Show from 30 September to 03 October will be revealed. It is certainly not.

Reason 3: Technical Hurdles

Already in the interview, fromSoft developer Kitao-San confirmed that, for example, the horse is not present in the multiplayer due to technical hurdles. Also, the Koop player count was reduced from formerly three to two companions.

Elden Ring appears as a cross-gene title for PS4 / PS5 as well as Xbox consoles and must be graphically and technically diffracted to the limits of the load gene to a certain point. In addition, Elden Ring is the largest and most ambitious project of the Japanese, even if it is developed with the Dark Souls 3 engine and to judge trailers visually no major jumps.

Although titles such as Dark Souls already count as Open World Games, but Elden Ring sets on a classic, open game world, as we know it from a Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And especially these types of games come with great technical hurdles, as recently a cyberpunk 2077 has proven ugly.

Reason 4: Shifts due to the pandemic

In no other year, as many games were postponed, as 2021. In our list you can once again get an accurate impression of which titles have all delayed or late.

Especially with Japanese developers, due to the conversion from work in the office into the home office often came to delays. It is unclear how from software with changed conditions, a shift due to the pandemic would not be surprising.

Opinion of the editors

Dennis Michel: As much as I wish a release in January, so much I wish that Elden Ring as extremely ambitious project both on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, but also on the load gene, In a technically good condition - with small problems, we always have to expect Open World Games to the Release.

My imagination is currently not sufficient for a release at the end of January or otherwise formulated: I would be very surprised (!) Surprised, we should keep the game on the 21st of January in the hands.

If I also return to the last publications, the spring is mostly fromSoft time: Sekiro appeared in March 2019, Dark Souls 3 in April 2016, Bloodborne in March 2015 and Dark Souls 2 in April 2015. Only Dark Souls (October) and Demon's Souls (June) had other release periods.

But fromSoft may be a lot, very much of a better teaching and elden ring without shifting in January in a technical good condition.

What do you think: Will Elden Ring appear in January or do you have a similarly evil preliminary?
